Wan Fatimah brings to ANAK ARSHAD Architect a relatively long architectural experience. Her father a carpenter and house builder in his younger days undertook the construction of typical Malay homes in their locality. Naturally Wan Fatimah had an earlier exposure to building works, craftsmanship, intricacies of planning, detailing and the artistry of Malay house design. This infused in her keenness towards designing, construction and business acumen.
After finishing secondary school, Wan Fatimah registered as a diploma student at Institute Teknologi MARA Shah Alam Malaysia (now known as University Technology MARA). After graduating she became a technical assistant at Ibu Pejabat JKR Kuala Lumpur. She secured a scholarship to study architecture at Robert Gorden University Aberdeen Scotland. After graduating with B.Sc (Hon)(CNNA) Arch, she gained further experience as a designer at Hooi Seng Tuck Architect Penang for sixteen months before continuing to complete a post graduate Advanced Diploma in Architecture at the same University in Scotland. On completion of the program she was attached to Arkitek Maju Kedah before beginning her career as an architect at Cawangan Arkitek Ibu Pejabat Jabatan Kerja Raya Kedah in 1984. Her responsibilities at the department included direct control of designing and co-ordinating of building projects for the State government. This encompassed designing new buildings and projects, restoring heritage buildings, implementing landscape, renovation and interior design works.
She was awarded "Bintang Perkhidmatan Cemerlang Kedah" (BCK) in 1988 on the occasion of KDYMM Sultan of Kedah birthday. In 1995 she was a recipient of the Distinguished Excellent Service Award of Jabatan Kerja Raya Kedah. |
